The National Symposiums is expected to improve the capability of trainers in delivering quality training to address competency gaps at various levels, which in turn will lead to efficient, and citizen centric public service delivery. The Symposium emphasizes the significance of aligning organizational mission, culture, work and trainings with the core theme of promoting Citizen Centricity in government functioning and will showcase experiences in training design, content and methodology that have promoted a citizen oriented attitude. Sharing and recognition of good practices leads to improved motivation of trainers and training establishment and instill a culture of service and excellence to ensure efficiencies in public service delivery.
1st National Symposium on Excellence in Training (NSET) was organized with the overarching objective to provide an annual national platform to training fraternity for experience sharing, exposure and showcasing of global best practices and expertise.
The 2nd NSET was designed with the citizen centric governance at the core of all its sessions. It aimed to provide exposure on innovations in training with the primary focus on increasing capabilities of trainers, training managers and administrators of National/State Training Institutes, and emphasizing the need to focus the overall aim of training towards developing and sustaining a citizen centric attitude to ensure efficient public service delivery.
DoPT in collaboration with UNDP organised a two-day National Symposium on Excellence in Training on April 11-12, 2015 in New Delhi. The symposium was organized in the backdrop of recommendations of the National Training Policy 2012, which stipulates that the training institutions should keep track of latest international trends in training, and constantly upgrade the skills of trainers/faculty members in new and emerging training techniques/methodologies. Under this overarching objective, the Symposium is envisaged to continue providing an annual national platform to faculty, trainers and administrators of National/State Training Institutes; Master/Recognized Trainers; and Training Managers of various Ministries/ Departments/ Cadre Controlling Authorities with the objectives to:
- Promote sharing of good practices.
- Emphasize key recommendations of the National Training Policy 2012, and importance of Systematic Approach to Training (SAT).
- Provide exposure to the trainers on the latest training methodologies and techniques from across the globe.
- Ensure continuous capacity building of trainers, training managers and administrators in the government sector.
The Symposium offered plenary sessions by international and national experts on the following topics:
- Comprehensive Training Strategy.
- Building Institutions of Excellence.
- Developing Effective Trainers.
- Innovative Training Methodologies like Case Study Writing and Teaching, and E-learning.
- Evaluation and Assessment.
